We are excited to invite you to our next Continuous Professional Development (CPD) event in collaboration with the University of Cincinnati 2026 Leadership Development Seminar Series. This presentation, Experience with Becoming an ASHP Center of Excellence, will be led by John Armitstead, MS, RPh, CPEL, FASHP, Vice President Pharmacy Services at Lee Health Pharmacy This event will take place Thursday, July 2nd 12:00-1:00 and this activity is eligible for live ACPE credit. John A. Armitstead, MS, RPh, CPEL, FASHP, is Vice President of Pharmacy Services at Lee Health in Fort Myers, Florida. He leads practice advancement, strategic planning, financial management, and system-wide coordination of pharmacy services across a five-hospital, three–skilled nursing facility, and county-wide ambulatory health system with a $330 million budget and more than 440 team members. Under his leadership, over 250 new pharmacy practice positions have been implemented through innovative, approved business plans. A graduate of Ohio Northern University, he earned his master’s degree in hospital/clinical pharmacy from The Ohio State University and completed a residency at Riverside Methodist Hospitals.

A nationally recognized leader, Mr. Armitstead is a past president of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and a Fellow of ASHP, FSHP, and KSHP. He has been actively involved in professional leadership at both state and national levels for more than four decades. In addition to his administrative role, he serves as a PGY2 residency program director in health-system pharmacy administration, has precepted hundreds of residents and students, and has contributed extensively to the profession through publications and educational initiatives.

  • Describe criteria and process for credentialing as ASHP Center of Excellence.
  • Discuss critical areas where quality improvement is needed in pharmacy practice, medication safety and pharmacy patient care services.
  • Identify communication skills and resources needed from pharmacy team and C-Suite to implement quality improvement.
  • Summarize leadership principles to effectively initiate and sustain a quality improvement culture.

To receive credit, you must participate in the CPE activity and complete all the steps found in the "Complete Credit Requirements" link provided by the LecturePanda registration confirmation email. After following the link, these steps will include: reviewing the course learning materials. confirming information provided on registration. claiming participation in applicable credits and completing all listed evaluations and quizzes. Credit requirements must be completed within 60 days of the program activity date. Upon completion, credit will be transmitted electronically to the ACPE. All transmitted credit will be viewable in your CPE Monitor profile within 24 hours. It is the participants’ responsibility to ensure credit is properly populating on their individual NABP eProfile account. Please contact the James L.
